Black, White and a tinge of Grey - Unexplained Point of Relaxation
|
Hi! People! Yeah I am back after like, 2 weeks of hibernation perhaps. I know that you all missed, or should I say kinda missed my couple story and have been anticipating the second couple that I mentioned.(Lol) Sadly to say it is not up yet, it is seriously hard to continue the story although the plot is already set. Yeah, but then I assure you that this post will be a very promising post to you guys.
. . . Yup you guessed it!!! This post is about PROMISES Let me first define what is the word "Promises", and why it deserves to be an interesting and sometimes serious issue. A promise is kind of like a statement that, once you have made it, you will definitely do it. Let's say: Anselm said, "I promise myself that I will perform during Teachers' Day even though it is not necessary." This is an example of a promise.(LOL I already use the word in the sentence) You may be asking the question that I myself is asking: Ya what's the big deal about these kind of statements? Or what's the whole issue? Yup I am coming to that. It happens when you made a promise TO SOMEONE. If you promised someone you are going to do something, you are definitely going to do it. The result usually affect both parties. What's the great big deal about it? Well, once you have did that, no matter when is the promise going to be fulfilled, the next day, ten days later, 5 years later or whatever, you have INSTILLED that someone a HOPE that the thing is going to happen. Example: Wayne: I promised that I will say "I love you" to Benedict later. Anselm: Ok Later, he did say I love you to him. Ok this is an example of a VERY SMIPLE promise fulfilled. It is kind of an insignificant thing that we usually do not bother about it. There are even more important promises though, like... : Professor Katherine: Deja Vu! I said that for fun anyway. Mr Hujimakasohumanolopojakuara, the funds for the Uygnij project will reach you in about 10 minutes. I have carefully made sure that all systems are well in place for the transfer. Please stand by. Mr Hujimakasohumanolopojakuara: ... Notice that the phrase "I promise that..." is not in this sentence, but this is actually a kind of promise. Ah, you get what I mean. Here comes the interesting part: What if after someone has made a promise to someone, HE/SHE FAILS TO FULFIL IT? Well, well, well, let me give you ANOTHER example, which in my opinion is bad enough when you look at it as a whole. Pythagoras: Hey Alexander, during the first Thursday of the September holidays, I am meeting Sine, Cosine and Tangent up for a buffet at Additional Mathematics Hotel. You are invited to join us! Alexander: Really? I don't really know Cosine, are you sure it is ok? Pythagoras: Absolutely! This obviously will be great as long as it is fulfilled, both Alexander and Pythagoras will meet up and have a sumptuous buffet on that day planned. However let me give you 2 scenarios, which are quite similar but have different impacts on the party that a promise is made to. Scenario 1(according to the situation above) On Tuesday, two days directly before the buffet, Pythagoras texted Alexander: Sorry but the meeting is cancelled. Probably next time I will invite you again. The result can be further sub-divided into two types of ending: Ending 1: The group of friends really could not make it on that day, and that they are willing to try and get themselves free so that the buffet can be "postponed" to another time. Ending 2: Pythagoras REGRETTED ASKING YOU! HE LIED TO YOU THAT THE MEETING IS CANCELLED, PROBABLY BECAUSE HE THINKS THAT YOU ARE A NUISANCE AND SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH, OR EVEN NOT WORTHY OF BEING TREATED SO WELL. THEREFORE HE WENT TO THE BUFFET ALONG WITH THE FRIENDS HIMSELF AND YOU ARE TOTALLY LEFT OUT. Ok Scenario 2: Alexander is the one that texted Pythagoras about the buffet. Once again, Pythagoras mentioned that the meeting is cancelled, maybe next time if we are free after a period of time. The results are exactly the same two as the ones above. The above is basically called An Empty Promise, and I am telling that they are hell of something that really get to you. Ok you are LOOKING FORWARD to that particular thing that someone promised you, but now he/she has just dismissed the issue with a snap of finger. No one except an idiot would like to be treated like that. Haiz another random post... By the way this post is not 'dedicated' or hinting on anybody. It is just a post about "Promises" =). I am not aiming at any particular person. Hahas, Ok this is the last time I am posting... THIS MONTH! LOL seeya readers. I posted at 7:31 PM |
