Black, White and a tinge of Grey - Unexplained Point of Relaxation

WOW! I AM BORED!
YES BORED! BORED! Yeah finally came back after the one month hiatus(I learned this word from Geelyn obviously). Prom night is over, and it means you are on your OWN! Since I am SOOOOOOO BORED right now, I will post random things. **Warning: The following are all thoughts of Anselm at the time he posted this post due to boredom. It will all be in present tense for you to see the message clearer. You may need to read a little faster to understand. Why do people get bored and what views do I have of boredom? Let me put you guys in a scenario(pardon me for my severely limited vocabulary of English): It was a regular day. Anselm woke up at 6:30 am in the morning. 10 minutes later, his father woke up, got dressed and go to work. All the while Anselm was lying on his bed with his eyes wide open, looking towards the window to see the light blue morning sky. 20 minutes later, his mother woke up and told him to fetch his sister to the The Students' Place(TSP) at around 11am. He did what he was told and went to buy lunch for himself. From 11:30am to 6pm Anselm had been in front of the computer multitasking, playing the DS and Viwawa at the same time. At 6:45pm, his mother came back with dinner. He watched "The Ten Brothers" as he ate his dinner up. At around 11:30pm, he went to sleep. Have you read this fast enough? If you do, you would have noticed that in this particular scenario, Anselm(aka myself, ME!) was living a BORING BORING day! Why do people feel bored? I can't deny that when I was living this particular day, I felt potentially bored. Now I am asking myself: Why do people feel bored? It is actually because at that time when we thought that we had nothing to do and was bored, we actually did not take the initiative to find something to do and bure the boredom. Yeah yeah it may sound easy to do, but it is actually a difficult feat. Let me explain ALL the reasons I can think of. 1) A regular teenage BOY's post O levels time table would be EAT, PLAY and SLEEP. Nothing else. He may claim that he went out occasionally to his friends' house or with his parents, but actually he did so because he had to(most of the time). When we(boys) finally had the time to sit on a random armchair and rest, this is the time when we will feel BORED. For myself, I would most probably switch on the computer that I had just off 10 minutes ago, go to www.youtube.com, lean down on my chair slightly and watch random videos. This whole cycle continues on and on and eventually when we sort of summarise what happened during that particular day, it would be a BORED day for SURE.(continued at 3) ) 2) A regular teenage GIRL's post O levels time table would be WAKE UP, EAT and SLEEP. As I am obviously not a girl, I do not know how their lifestyles were, but I can guarantee that they organise their daily activities into these 4 categories: 1. Watch a drama 2. Shopping 3. Going out with friends most of the time 4. Prepare to sleep(Yeah abit lol I know) Honestly nobody in their right mind would want to study now that O levels are over? So I can assume that these 4 categories that I predicted would be correct for a girl's daily activities(except Jia Qi). Now it is pretty much the same, once the girl can finally put time aside and rest her body, she will feel BORED! She may probably find someone to sms or she would just sit there and think otherwise. (continued at 3) as well) 3) Now comes the most tricky reason that I have invented. You may have noticed that I have literally screamed that I am bored right at the start of the post. In my opinion, we should never have done so. The reason is simple: There is no such thing as "nothing to do" as we so often use it on our parents. Let's say Jing Yu woke up like 6:45am in the morning. She did not plan to wake up that early and she thought to herself, "Aiyerr, what should I do ah?", while still lying in the bed. You will probably say: "DUH! Get up and brush your teeth etc!" Ok you might be wondering, let's say Jing Yu has brushed her teeth, cleaned her hair, wiped her face, looked in the mirror for ten minutes and had taken her breakfast. Assuming it is still early in the morning and she does not play any games, she would probably have nothing else left to do. That's when she would probably say, "Aiyerr, what should I do ah?"... again. At this point I think I better move on to the last and final point. 4) Most of us now are simply too contented with life, and we tend to ask for more, usually impossible stuff. It is ironic, but it is true. To say it in a very serious tone, we are so happy(xing4 fu2) right now that whenever we think that we have "nothing to do", we INDEED have "nothing to do". THAT is the sad issue. Let me list like 10 random things that you can do to help out the family. 1) Mop the floor 2) Clean the toilet(YES! Not joking) 3) Wipe the windows 4) Dry the laundry out in the sun 5) Wash dishes 6) Cook rice for the family 7) Arrange your own room 8) Go to the library(Improve your knowledge) 9) Exercise 10) Change the bedsheets Or you can simply do whatever you want, or at least plan before hand. I know it is indeed a boring post about boredom, but let me just finish for a second. What views do I have for boredom? Erm boredom should never be present in a person's daily life routines. We most frequently end up wasting time when we could be doing something far more useful and meaningful, which could also benefit us in one or alot of ways. Another in depth explanation of another scenario: On a particular Saturday, Wayne woke up at 9am in the morning. Although feeling entirely energetic, he simply wanted to snooze in bed since it was a weekend and he felt that he had "nothing to do" even if he got up. He dozes off at around 9:30am after staring at his bedroom ceiling for 30 minutes and thinking about stuff. He finally got up at 11:10am. At that same day, Noxin(not Nixon) woke up at 9am as well. Since he was feeling totally energetic, he got up straight away, dressed up and took his breakfast. This took him only 25 minutes. At around 10:00am, Noxin decided that he should go jogging since the weather is welcoming. By the time he had jogged finish and cooled down, it was 10:45am. Along his way home, Noxin decided to buy himself lunch to eat at home later. By the time he got back home, bathed and settled down to enjoy his lunch, it was approximately 11:10am. Notice that on a regular Saturday morning from 9am to 11am, two different people have spent this period of time differently. Running out of ideas, I think this probably summarises what I have said earlier on. Only a meaningful life does not contain any signs of boredom. Those who choose to waste time off doing nothing but sleep(in this case Wayne) are not enjoying life as much as people that have a better lifestyle(in this case Noxin). After saying all these, I myself must admit that I am not even doing 25% of what I have just said. Well, let's just say I am trying to adopt a better lifestyle yeah. Ok a boring post of boredom for all of you... Probably next time I will post again should I have the urge to do so. (Inform me if you spotted any grammar mistakes, I am not sharp enough) Prom night was not very worthwhile, probably because the entire area to our dear emcee's left did not win anything amazing. As for the food, only the warm food which had a bit of taste in them were nice. The bread and butter pudding was VERY NICE by the way. Didn't take much photos in the end, got back home by 190 bus at around 11:45pm. On a last note: Names used in this post have been modified to avoid misunderstandings. Should the names correspond to any one of you readers, it is a total coincidence. No one's lives were used as an example in this post. They were all made up by The Author of this post and it is also a coincidence should they match any one of yours. Ok Toodles!(learned from Geelyn as well) I posted at 10:55 PM |
