Black, White and a tinge of Grey - Unexplained Point of Relaxation

Thursday, July 16, 2009

I finally feel like posting!
I finally have a new Econs tuition buddy.
I finally have the chance to rant on some random stuff.
I finally got reprimanded by my mother of my poor results.

Find this familiar, Leon? LOL rhetorics!

It is 16 July, 11:29pm. In perhaps 15 more hours a new weekend will come again. It shocks me truly that time is passing by as quick as a 100metre Sprinter(at least I sound less cliche now). Suppose that time continues to pass by like this, JC1, even though largely occupied by Project Work, will pass by "pretty soon".

Speaking of 100m Sprinters, Mr Gabriel shared with us something interesting during GP lesson today. We got back our papers firstly and went through Paper 2(I shall post my results, my 'humble' results when I got back Econs and Maths) when Mr Gabriel suddenly mentioned his experience in NUS.

There was this group of guys in his cohort called the "Hidders". It means that they are famous for hiding things. As my class got even more puzzled, he went on to explain. After every lecture, the lecturer of NUS would give some recommended readings to assist you in completing your tutorials and assignments following it. This group of "Hidders" will copy down every single one of the books and position themselves at the far back of the lecture theatre. When the lecture is over, this group of people will RUSH out of the LT with the speed of a 100m Sprinter to, you guessed it, the library. They will search the ENTIRE library for the books and borrow them home. More "desperate" ones will actually hide the book at random places in the library, one extreme case being tearing off the library code off the book and bringing it home, stealing...

Well, I was quite speechless when I heard that. What's more, Mr Gabriel was LIKE THAT BEFORE. Luckily he changed for the better as time passes. It makes me wonder the depth of one can actually go to prevent out competition. Yeah we were discussing that.

I think that the whole "Competition" idea applies greatly to our current thoughts now that we've gotten back half of our papers. Just look at those who have done abysmally bad for Common Test, too much competition will indeed lead to students having a lower self-confidence, I think. Well, I won't go to that extent. I think the most important thing after a major exam is to review your performance, even though I hardly practice that. It is no use moping over it for so long, it is best to put it aside and use it as a reminder to spur yourself and do better.

Ah, whatever. Project Work is really like an annoying fly, it's just that the current JC1 students can't be like cows and conveniently swat them dead. Group discussions are now more serious instead of the light-hearted ones we've had in April. Well, MY GROUP CERTAINLY NEED PERVEEN BACK!!!

Haix, I realise I do sigh alot when I post. Haix(lol). Well I shall post again when I get back all my results for Common Test. No matter how appalling I think I've done, I will evaluate it. I find it a paradox(something learnt earlier today =D) that I'm more keen to evaluate my grades instead of my mistakes, even though my character is like that.

Paradox - A self-contradictory statement that can nonetheless be true.

Must memorise this word. It would be useful in GP essays.

Anyway I will do something fun before I sign off, due to the fact that I'm determined not to start doing EoM today. Here are 60 facts that guys should know about girls, taken from Wei Xin's note on Facebook, and I AM GOING TO ANALYSE AND EVALUATE THEM!!!

Lame stuff ahead!

1. We only talk about our ex boyfriends to explain how much better YOU are than they were, no other reason.

If only that is true 100% a time, it all depends on how much we know about the body language of girls I guess...

2. IT'S THE TRUTH! We need a little challenge too. It's OK to act a little uninterested sometimes (don't go screwing some other chick or extreme behavior of the sort), we like to have to work to keep you by our side too. If you are too sweet, too fast, a girl could possibly lose interest.

True enough, a fair explanation. Just go with the flow man! I believe it is always better to be good friends first. If both parties are having that "feeling", then they could proceed from good friends to boyfriend and girlfriend, not because of raging hormones.

3. We don't buy things because we expect gifts back, we are being genuinely nice.

Some girls, according to my experience, ARE TERRIBLE AT THIS!

4. Girls don't always want to hang out with girls. Just because we have guy friends does not mean that we want to be with them. We probably already had the chance and didn't take it.

LIKE REAL! Some girls are holding their heads high up in the air when they walk past guys they know when they are in a large group, sometimes not even greeting them, unless the guy is "enthu" enough to greet first. Although I must say, some shy girls behave this way, but being Asian and a sucker with girls, I can't tell...

5. If you mess up, we will almost always get angry before we actually calmly explain everything.

Not for me. I don't normally go into fights, and if you get angry you are shortening your lifetime, according to hundreds of philosophers. MUAHAHA

6. We do not all like dollies and pink. Do not treat us like we are fragile.

I don't think girls are fragile... In fact, I read about a GP essay saying that woman will dominate the world in time and are more significant than men are. Hmm...

7. If we complain to you, it is because we confide in you, not because we want to torture you.

Because of the usage of words - Quite true

8. Don't expect us to make the same mistakes your ex did. If we do, it is not because there is some huge conspiracy against you. Maybe you are making a mistake, not us. Do not compare our mistakes to hers.

Haha I'm in no position to say anything. I don't have like 5 exs like some Secondary School guy I knew had.

9. Girls get jealous too, usually worse than guys. We always feel like we have to fight for you, and will say anything mean about any girl you were speaking to, even if we never met her. Don't take offense, be glad we care so much about it.

OH.MY.GOD. Girls do DEADLY things when they are jealous... The face of pure contorted evil that can only be seen on their faces for a split second when they suddenly thought of an idea of slitting another girl's throat....

10. Do not make promises or tell us you'll call when you know you'll forget or fall asleep. We will wait hours for that call. Just tell us you'll talk to us tomorrow.

Well... Sorry?

11. if there's another girl, tell us. You might be surprised at our reaction. We don't all want to be serious either. It beats sneaking around.

Nah don't worry. I WILL NEVER TWO-TIME! Even though it is too early to say that, but given my evaluation in Number 2, I guess I will dedicate to one girl at a time?

12. We really do feel unattractive or overweight. There is a lot of competition out there. We need to be assured, even if its 600 times.

Way of thinking I guess...
"You're not fat!"
"I'm fat!"
"No you're not!"
"I am!"
Forget it

13. We don't search for compliments in the way you think. We are helping you by telling you exactly what we need to hear. Do not get annoyed, it will most likely cause an argument.

I have to rely on myself then... I mean to judge what are your intentions, what do you want to hear etc.

14. We want to hear we are prettier than the girl in the magazine, even if its not true. We don't think its cheesy. Stick to it, no matter how hard we push you.

I agree. I am infatuated before, like who doesn't? I seriously think that if you decide to go out with a girl, she should be the most attractive SO FAR. LOL

15. We DO want to be called hot by you, just not all the time. Change it up.

I prefer the word "beautiful". It sounds like it's from the 1960s, but I like the word. =)

16. We know you don't care about what happened in our day, but listen. It hurts us a lot when you don't pay attention.

If I ever had a chance to go on a date with the girl I like, I WILL listen!

17. We watch plenty of movies with you where girls remove clothing and do outrageously abnormal sexual things. When we ask you to watch a love story with us, we only want to spend time with you. It will not kill you, and it doesn't make you less of a man.

Don't worry, I know this before you even tell me about it, not because of experience, it's too obvious.

18. We don't mean to embarrass you. Don't get so angry with us when we do. We already feel terrible. We'll try not to next time.

Ok... Sounds like those type of girls that need affirmation from our(guys') mouths.

19. Flowers and chocolate don't make everything better. You do.

Well, I thank you for that. =)
I prefer quality time instead of gifts actually. ><

20. We don't want to change you. We met you the way you are, and we love you. The suggestions are just that. We are used to changing a lot about our appearance, and mean not to offend you.

I CARED ABOUT YOUR INNER SELF! We can feel it! Please =D

OMG only 20 facts and I'm so tired already. I shall do the next 40 facts over the next two posts or the next post if I feel like it...

Until then, seeya guys!
