Alright guys! I'm just going to skip the date part and intro and stuff even though it is now Saturday. Going to evaluate my results now.
H2 Biology:
This is really an interesting H2 subject. For Bao Bao, it means random thrashing of papers. For me, it is more of sustaining the 'B' grade. When I receive back the Bio paper, I was greeted with 58.5% for both Finals and overall promos score. Yup, it is that coincidental that my Common Test marks = My Finals marks = my promos marks = 58.5%. So I was like thinking: 'C'? It can't be, I'm not worth that standard.
So I set on to try and redeem as many marks as possible. There is one question that Mr Chan immediately marked me 0 marks, the one where you have to cross between the dogs IIa and IIb to prove whether a disease is X-linked or autosomal recessive. I was like wondering: Hey! Shouldn't I deserve the marks? I immediately went to Mr Chan and he awarded me an additional 1.5 marks.
Subsequently I claimed another 2 marks, increasing my overall score for my Finals. I immediately keyed in my results into my calculator to calculate my promos mark again, and voila, I jumped from 58.5% to 60.08%, which is a B!
So overall, I managed to get a B for Bio. My only evaluation is that if I just dedicate more time into studying Bio, I would have gotten an A. I mean seriously, readers who take H2 Biology, it is not that difficult to just plant your buttocks onto your chair and revise Bio for like, at least half an hour? I hope I learned my lesson, because I don't really want Bao Bao and Tricia to have such little competition in class for H2 Biology.
H2 Chemistry:
Hmm, another interesting subject that occurred to me. I finally got a decent grade for Chemistry, which is a B after my horrendous performance in the Common Test. I actually did well for Section C, achieving 36/60 for the structured questions. Although this may seem a joke to Tan Wee Kiat, I still think I've done well! It is just MCQ which pulled me down severely, but whatever I am more or less satisfied.
I've talked to alot of people about Chem outside of SAJC, and they all came to a rationale: Understand Physical Chemistry and memorise Organic Chemistry. The reason why you fail Organic Chem is because you question why this reagent/condition is required and so on. The reason why you did not perform as well as you have expected yourself to do so for Physical Chem is due to lack of practice. Apparently the next test coming up would be the MSAs in Year 2, so why not adopt this simple strategy and grab the coveted 'A' grade for Chem, which is just within your reach?
H2 Mathematics:
I almost scolded our favourite F-word out loud when I open my paper to see my marks for Finals: 71.5/100. Are you kidding me? 71.5 out of 100 marks ONLY? Ok I think the reason why I scored so pathetically is because I basically dumped Maths aside and played Plants Vs Zombies during the weekend before the Maths Finals which is on a Monday, but what else do you expect me to do for Maths? It is all about practising and practising for Maths and this Finals paper does not include any integration, which could possibly be my newest forte. ( =P ) Well, I was imagining what if I had made even more careless mistake: wouldn't I have scored 6X / 100, which will render me a fucked up B grade for Maths? What a huge sigh of relief!
As usual, Bao Bao and Tricia pwned me in Maths again. This is particularly because both of them did exceptionally well for CTs. Never mind, I just need to sustain my momentum for Maths and maybe really settle Graphing Techniques and Functions once and for all, which are still my 2 worst topics for Maths. Until then, I would not make life that easy for both of them for Maths, muahaha!
H2 Economics:
Well, I admit I was a little disappointed. Having received Econs tuition from a teacher who had taught the HOD of Econs department in Pioneer Junior College, I only managed to get yet another C for H2 Econs Finals, but achieved a B for the overall promos grade. This is primarily due to the lack of practices SAJC gave us. I mean, a direct comparison between PJC and SAJC for H2 Econs would have labelled us SAJC H2 Econs people as "lazy", due to the extreme amount of workload for the PJCians for Econs. Anyway the point is, I am still far away from my desired level of knowledge for Econs.
What I can do, or rather the only thing I can do now for Econs is to practice and practice, but still I can't find the motivation to do so. Maybe SAJC is partly to blame for inducing a "can afford to slack and do well for Econs" mood, which I clearly cannot do so. Well, the most important thing that I need to do is still to master Macroeconomics, which I still know nuts about. Haix
H1 General Paper:
I know you sadistic people out there and waiting eagerly for the evaluation of the paper I've done the worst for for Finals. Yes I got an S overall for Finals due to my record breaking score for Paper 2. My close friends who have consistently excelled for GP would be laughing their asses off at me right now, but due to my ability to shut out all these irrelevant disturbance I'm basically unaffected. Ok enough of nonsense. After going emo for about 5 minutes about my hideous results, I went to consult Mr Gabriel for a while.
He told me that I have the so-called train of thoughts for GP, it is just that my language still does not allow me to pen them down nicely. Right now I just have to concentrate on two things:
- Read more The Straits Times to widen your knowledge to increase your content for Paper 1.
- As for Paper 2, try to understand what the question is asking?
As an overall evaluation, never compare with other people's performance too much. Using yourself as a benchmark for improvement would be a much more appropriate strategy. Well, time for PLANTS VS ZOMBIES!
